I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with over 15 years of experience treating individuals, couples and families, combining my training in cognitive and psychoanalytic therapies.

I graduated from Washington University with a Master’s in Social Work, specializing in family therapy and then I earned a second Master’s in Media Arts and Communications from Webster University, both schools located in St. Louis, Missouri. After working in the St. Louis University Medical School Outpatient Psychiatry Department, I next worked for the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune In North Carolina.

I moved to Utah and earned another graduate degree in Anthropology at the University of Utah, minoring in Evolutionary Psychology. I combined all that education with a myriad of other training experiences in the medical field.

I moved to the Washington, DC area last year after living in Hawaii for ten years. In Hawaii, I worked as a medical social worker in a small island hospital in Kauai and then in the emergency department of a major trauma hospital in Honolulu.

After years of seeing patients in private practice, I joined forces with several community based treatment teams in Oahu and conducted seminars and educational groups with an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

My daughter Catherine was born in 2000. And now, she’s starting college!

I was inspired to write a book called The Secret of Healing by Touch, which is being re-published this year by a New York publisher.

I believe that kindness and compassion are the basis of any therapeutic treatment and I always give my patients the kind of care that builds openness, safety and trust.

I acquired a German shepherd last year, named Buddha. After raising him from the age of eight weeks, I’ve come to believe that animals are keys to understanding patience and feeling joy and unconditional love. I also conduct emotional support animal consultations and provide these services as needed.

Our Name

Why is our name Roundhouse?

We moved into our first office building in Old Town, Alexandria located on a site where once existed a railroad roundhouse. That’s how we got our name, Roundhouse Square Counseling Center. We moved across the street, but kept our name. The railroad metaphor inspired our tag line: “Getting you back on the right track.”
