I have helped hundreds of people overcome their disabling fear of public speaking as Founder-Director of the Stagefright Survival School at Roundhouse Square Counseling Center.
I have been an attorney in private practice and have served as General Counsel for the American Society of Travel Agents (“ASTA”), arguing cases in court and appearing before legislative and other official bodies.
I received my A.B. degree in biology from Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C. and my Juris Doctor degree from the Law School of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduation I served as an Editor, Managing Editor and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc., now Bloomberg-BNA.
I am passionate about helping people with fear of public speaking. It’s a problem I know well because for years I struggled with it myself until I overcame it by using the successful techniques I developed in collaboration with Dr. David Charney. These same methods and techniques are now available to you through the Stagefright Survival School. An introduction to the Stagefright Survival School ‘s techniques and program is available in my book, Stagefright Solved: The Official Stagefright Survival School Manual, available from Amazon Books here.
I am also Dean and serve as a Member-Commissioner of the Fairfax County Water Authority, the public utility that provides drinking water to almost two million people throughout Northern Virginia. My essays and articles have appeared in The Washington Post and the Thomas Jefferson Policy Journal.
In addition to helping people with a fear of public speaking, I also help people with a fear of flying as Director of the Fear of Flying Program at Roundhouse Square Counseling Center.

We moved into our first office building in Old Town, Alexandria located on a site where once existed a railroad roundhouse. That’s how we got our name, Roundhouse Square Counseling Center. We moved across the street, but kept our name. The railroad metaphor inspired our tag line: “Getting you back on the right track.”
