I’ve enjoyed working at Roundhouse for more than 25 years. After receiving my Masters Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, I completed a two-year post-graduate program at American University in psychotherapy. In recent years I completed an externship, a core skills program, and numerous workshops in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples treatment. I attend conferences and workshops on a regular basis in order to keep abreast of current theory and treatment modalities.
During the early phase of counseling, I will encourage you to share information with me that will help me understand you. Together we will look for patterns of behavior which are ineffective, and determine which tools and strategies will get you where you want to go. When appropriate, and with your agreement, I like to include a family member(s) or significant other(s) to join us for one session or more.
My philosophical orientation tends to be “eclectic.” I draw on ideas and techniques from several treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Counseling ((CBT), Client-Centered Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I will give you appropriate feedback, with honesty, warmth, and humor.
On a personal note, I am married, and have three grown children and two small grandchildren! While raising my own children, I was an active volunteer in their school and sporting events, enabling me to easily identify with the stress of parenting.
Now I spend my free time trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle through exercise, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy cooking and taking long walks with my husband and our dog Oliver.
I look forward to getting to know you, and will respond to your inquiry within 48 hrs.

We moved into our first office building in Old Town, Alexandria located on a site where once existed a railroad roundhouse. That’s how we got our name, Roundhouse Square Counseling Center. We moved across the street, but kept our name. The railroad metaphor inspired our tag line: “Getting you back on the right track.”
